Unique pathway to promote Academia Industry Collaboration
National Institute of Industrial Engineering (NITIE), Mumbai signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Genpact, a global professional services firm focused on delivering digital transformation, to establish a Digital Manufacturing and Supply Chain center with a vision to provide solutions to the industry and to develop capability building and knowledge creation on a large scale to address the transformation of traditional manufacturing to digital manufacturing through the latest trends of technology, Industry 4.0, Intelligent Manufacturing, and Digital Transformation.
The MoU was signed by Director NITIE Mumbai – Prof. Manoj Tiwari and Mr. Diwakar Singhal, Senior Vice President of Genpact.
The collaboration between NITIE and Genpact will cater to the designing and development of specialized electives, capability enhancement for NITIE students and Genpact employees, launch of new research projects, development of research laboratory for real-life problem solving and simulation, Business Intelligence, global collaborations in the emerging areas, and joint publications in terms of white papers, case studies and journal publications. The students will have access to real world use cases leveraging specialized software in the respective domain areas as a part of the curriculum, as well as internship and sponsored projects.
The courses will be jointly handled by experts drawn from NITIE, industry and Genpact, making it a perfect blend of academic proficiency and practical experience. The center aims to focus on Digital Twin, Digital Thread, Analytics and LEAN deployment in Manufacturing and Supply Chain risk and resilience.
The potential areas of research projects of mutual interest can be Analysis of Multimodal Transport System, Real-Time Decision Support Systems, IoT and Autonomous Vehicles in Manufacturing and Logistics, Business and Operations Analytics.
As a part of MoU, Genpact will be funding two women chair professors to promote and support diversity, especially in manufacturing, logistics, and supply chain analytics, and establish scholarships for six women students to encourage women in STEM and build diverse leaders in supply chain.
