VerSe Innovation co-founder Umang Bedi buys plot in Bengaluru’s Epsilon


The co founder of VerSe Innovation, the parent company of news aggregation platform Dailyhunt and short-video format Josh firm Umang Bedi has bought a residential plot in Epsilon, a prime location in Bengaluru, for Rs 16.5 crore amid the third wave of COVID-19, registration data accessed by Zapkey.com showed.

The property jointly owned by Bedi and his wife was purchased earlier this month from two independent owners, spanning 11753 sq ft in a gated community called Yemlur HomeOwners Association on Yemlur Main Road, Bengaluru, which is off the Old Airport Road.

VerSe Innovation has in August raised $450 million from investors led by Siguler Guff & Co, Baillie Gifford, affiliates of Carlyle Asia Partners Growth II, Bay Capital and IIFL.

In February, VerSe picked up more than $200 million from investors such as Falcon Edge Capital, Glade Brook Capital Partners, Google, Microsoft and Qatar Investment Authority. It had also raised funds in December last year from the likes of Google and Microsoft, when it entered the unicorn club with a valuation of $1 billion.

Epsilon is a prime residential property in east Bengaluru with large layouts spread across 7,000 sq ft to over 10,000 sq ft. The property which comprises villa plots is priced around Rs 13,000-15000 per sq ft, depending on the plot size and the location, according to local brokers.

Epsilon, a by Invitation projects and one of Bengaluru’s top addresses houses some of the top names from Bengaluru including former Indian cricket team captain Rahul Dravid also resided here. Earlier in July, the co-founder of online grocery company Bigbasket, Abhinay Choudhari, bought a 9716 sq ft plot in Epsilon, a prime location in Bengaluru, for Rs 12.25 crore.

Bengaluru has seen some high end residential deals in the recent times including Raj Menda, corporate chairman of RMZ Group, and Anand Surana of Bengaluru-headquartered generics firm Micro Labs, buying property in the project Blessington for Rs 20.26 crore and Rs 13.76 crore, respectively in May 2020 and SGK Investment Trust, the family office of Kris Gopalkrishnan has bought two properties in Bengaluru’s boulevard of billionaires for nearly Rs 76 crore, mentioned Zapkey.com.
